Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures in motherhood, the every day, the good, the bad, the beautiful and the ugly.

CHEERS!

Our New Home

Our New Home

With all of the amazing and wonderful things that have happened in the last few months - Daniel passing his last board exams, Christmas vacation, spending a week with family in Grants Pass, snow days, and Las Vegas I haven't gotten around to announcing that in 3 months, my husband will be a dentist, and our little family will be making the move from city life, to rural life.

My sweet, amazing, smart, hard working husband was offered a job! He signed the contract back in December, and this summer we will be packing our bags and moving to small town Oregon to a city called Roseburg. It is very surreal. With only 3 months left of school I cannot believe we have made it to this point.

Daniel will be working at a small public health clinic - the same clinic he did his external rotation at back in September. They loved him so much, they wanted to keep him. Although we swore up and down that we were moving someplace sunnier and warm, this is such a great opportunity for our family. We're only 2 hours away from family, which makes it great for weekend trips. Plus we're only an hour outside of Eugene and an hour away from my cousin in Grants Pass, so we'll have plenty to do.

I'd be lying if I didn't admit that I was nervous about moving to a more rural area, that does not contain a Target (Ya'll know how I feel about Target!) But it'll give me fun weekend trips to Eugene, and maybe we'll save money? (HA HA...Thank goodness for online shopping.) I'm sad to be moving away from my family, but glad that we're only a two hour drive away vs. a two hour plane ride. It'll be fun for our little family to have this adventure and to be out on our own.

Daniel's contract is for three years, but because it's a public health clinic if we stay for 10, his student loans will be forgiven. Which. Is. HUGE! What a blessing to walk in to his own dental clinic without the debt of school. But! We're keeping our options open. If we don't love it, if it's not the right fit for our family, we know that it's ok to head somewhere else and not stay the whole ten years.

We've already begun the great house hunt. Phew! Not an easy task! Our list of wants isn't crazy (other than I want a GIANT monster sized kitchen :) but do we rent first? Buy immediately? We don't really know the area, so I'd hate to buy in an area we don't necessarily love and be stuck there. So many houses back up to the Umpqua river, and many houses are out in no-mans land neither of which we particularly want. However everything is beautiful and green and quiet and that is something I am looking forward too, and throughly love.

So stay tuned! I'll keep updating ya'll on the move, house hunting, and the many adventures we have ahead of us.

CHEERS! And Happy Fri-Yay!
