Happy Birthday To Ru!!!

Saturday the 16th we had the blessed opportunity to celebrate our beautiful baby girl... Turning THREE! I pretty much spent the whole week being emotional and looking at baby pictures. It was just too much for my momma heart to handle! Time seriously needs to slow down because I am not ready to have a three year old :(

Thankfully I got started early on party ideas and decorations - due to being pregnant I did not want to wait until the last minute and stress out over all the many grand ideas and things I wanted to get done. (This happens... WAY too frequently.) It was nice to get started early, I felt like several more of my ideas came to fruition - versus being sad that I didn't get the time to get the many things accomplished that I wanted to.

No the best picture - but I'm not going to lie, I was super impressed with myself considering that this is only the fourth attempt I have made at making, frosting, and decorating sugar cookies. So, I am going to sit back and toot my own horn :)

Her birthday theme this year was Tres Chic (get it?! Cause she was turning three :) My mom and I weren't 100% sure what we were going to do with this awesome theme idea ha ha. Thankfully as we ruminated on the idea we came up with a color scheme (pink, gold and white) and an underlying theme of Minnie Mouse. (Apparently this is a popular color scheme and theme idea, seriously, Pinterest it, it's crazy!)

Look at all that beautiful food!! My mom and I hit up the dollar tree for glass dishes and candle holders, spray painted the underside pink - it worked PERFECTLY! Because it made it LOOK like the whole dish was pink, and I could still serve food out of them. We also made the adorable (I'm biased) painted terra cotta pots with the gold Minnie Mouse heads- seriously I love it when a plan comes together.

While hitting up the party store, we discovered this GIANT pink and gold Minnie Mouse balloon, so obviously we HAD to have it. :)

Close up of the tablescape!

We set up shop at a little park (and I mean LITTLE) down the street from my Mother's house. It turned out to be super perfect, because the adults could sit on the outside of the park (the side facing the street) and the kids could be corralled within the park and grass area. It was amazing. Everyone ate and played and ate some more :) Which made me happy. Towards the end of the night it turned in to a Pokemon Go party (rolls eyes) but I'm glad that everyone who showed up and had fun.

Muggy is like the best Grampa ever... Blowing bubbles for all the kids to chase and scream and giggle about.

Of course little girl was spoiled. She got a dollhouse from mom and dad, a bike from Munky and Muggy, and a myriad of her favorite toys - from Charlie Brown and company bath squirters, to a Dory story book, and a Storm Trooper action figure. She was a happy, happy girl.

Her new balance bike from Munky and Muggy!! And her new "hat" (that's what she calls her helmet :)

Sunday morning... She woke up a different child, and it has been an uphill battle every other day. I remember writing about how I was going to consider the year of two terrific and wonderful, and quite frankly it was. Three has started out rough, and I have had to really take a step back and remember that she's my little girl, and that she is just trying to navigate and figure out her world. Somedays I wonder if it's partly because she knows mama is pregnant and that things in her little world will change? And other days I wonder how much of the attitude and stubbornness are from her turning three. I have to remember that her sweet little world is going to change quite dramatically in a few weeks (which quite honestly probably terrifies me more than her) and to be a little more patient. Thankfully to Amazon.. I have a shopping cat FULL of parenting books :) And I feel ready to tackle, wrangle, and wrestle with the beauty and blessings that Ruby's year of three will bring me. :)

My beautiful, beautiful baby girl. Oh how you have my heart in my hands. I love you so much.

Oh, just Mom and Dad taking a picture, sans our baby girl, because she was too busy throwing a temper tantrum on the play structure about how she did NOT want to take a picture with mom and dad. Classic.
